Born in Bengaluru, Pavan Bhat is a freelance film editor and filmmaker, based out of Mumbai and Bengaluru, India.
His feature films as an editor include 'LAST FILM SHOW (CHHELLO SHOW)', directed by Pan Nalin (Shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Oscars, as a co-editor), 'BHASMASUR' directed by Nishil Sheth, 'NIRMAL ANAND KI PUPPY' and 'DANNY GOES AUM' directed by Sandeep Mohan, 'PHIR SE SHAADI' (as a co-editor) directed by Imran Rasheed and as an additional editor on 'BULBUL CAN SING' directed by Rima Das. These films have won accolades and the appreciation of audiences and critics alike at various film festivals and release platforms across the world.
Although a computer engineer by qualification, he holds a diploma in film-making from Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. He has been actively involved in films, ads, promos, trailers, documentaries, and music videos since 2012-13, after working in various roles ranging from assistant editor, intern to post-production assistant on films like 'ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES' directed by Pan Nalin, 'TUMBBAD' directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Adesh Prasad, and 'KOTHANODI' directed by Bhaskar Hazarika and many more...
In addition to editing and film-making, he has a penchant for teaching, and has served as an adjunct editing professor at Miami Ad School, Mumbai and DICE-Vancouver Film School, Mumbai.
